Ying-Yu Chen is a faculty member at the Institute of Creative Industries and Design. Professor Chen holds a Ph.D. in Human Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Washington. Her academic expertise centers on human–computer interaction, critical computing, computer-supported cooperative work, and participatory design. Professor Chen has led several National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) research projects, including initiatives on digital empowerment for immigrant women, chatbot systems for deep parent–child communication, family energy-use negotiation and communication, and children’s social virtual reality. Her work demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach that integrates humanities perspectives with technological innovation.
