Emmi is a PhD candidate in the Information School and is a member of the User Empowerment Lab, GAMER Group, and Center for Digital Youth. She studies how the design of digital technology presents both risks and opportunities for children’s autonomy. She is particularly passionate about studying young children’s digital gaming practices through playful, child-led design and research methods. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Emmi was a professional full-stack software developer at Microsoft and Smartsheet.
